WEIGHT LOSS & HORMONE THERAPY – THE TRUTH
By Joshua G. Crampton, Founder
The Weight Loss Struggle
Throughout my years as a bodybuilding and nutritional coach, I’ve had countless discussions about weight loss. The question I hear most often is always the same: “How can I lose weight?”
I’m writing this from the United States, a country that, unfortunately, is often touted as having the highest rates of obesity, stress, and general health issues. One key factor to address is that the average testosterone level in American men has dropped by 1% every year for the past 60 years.
The Testosterone Deficiency Epidemic
This dramatic decline in testosterone means that the men of today have about half the testosterone of the founding fathers of the United States. I won’t dive into the myriad of conspiracy theories about how this may have come about. Instead, I’ll focus on the solution: hormone therapy. Some may speculate about hidden agendas affecting our society, but what’s clear is that hormone imbalances, especially testosterone deficiency, are a growing problem that impacts both men and women.
Weight Gain and Hormones
One of the most visible consequences of hormone imbalances, particularly testosterone deficiency, is weight gain. In the U.S., obesity rates have risen alongside the increase in hormone imbalances and deficiencies. The connection is clear: as hormone levels decline, so does the body’s ability to regulate weight effectively.
At MultiGen Wellness, we’ve witnessed patients lose weight simply by balancing their hormones—without making drastic changes to their diet, exercise routine, or lifestyle. In some cases, weight loss was achieved by simply eating healthier and incorporating moderate physical activity. In other cases, when patients balanced their hormones and made lifestyle changes, the results were nothing short of transformational.
How Weight Gain Happens
Your hormones play a pivotal role in shaping your body. They work in tandem with your DNA like a blueprint, guiding how your body is structured. This blueprint isn’t static—it changes every day based on the lifestyle choices you make. You are in control of your body, your life, and your health.
Your body’s blueprint functions according to natural laws—just like gravity. What you eat, your daily habits, and your fitness routines all inform your hormones about how the body should be structured and maintained. The body responds daily to these inputs, adjusting its processes according to what you feed it and how you treat it.
For example, just this week, I lost six pounds. I noticed that I was retaining more water and had gained a bit of body fat. I adjusted my diet to a lean, low-calorie regimen, and over the course of a week, I lost 0.5 to 1 pound per day. This change in weight wasn’t random—it followed the natural law of balancing intake and expenditure.
But there’s a catch: while diet and exercise play a role, hormones are the true decision-makers. Hormones regulate how much body fat is stored, how much muscle is retained, and how much water your body holds. Without proper hormone balance, your body will continue to send conflicting signals, no matter how much you change your diet or exercise routine.
The Hormonal Blueprint
Have you ever seen a 19-year-old who is naturally lean, with defined muscles, a flat stomach, and minimal body fat—despite a poor diet and lack of exercise? Youth certainly has its benefits, but what you’re witnessing is a well-balanced hormonal blueprint that directs the body to maintain a lean physique, regardless of unhealthy habits.
The key takeaway here is that hormones are the foundation of your health and wellness. No amount of exercise, dieting, or lifestyle adjustments can fully overcome an underlying hormonal imbalance. In fact, we’ve seen patients who work tirelessly in the gym, adhere to strict diets, and live what should be considered a healthy lifestyle, yet still struggle with bloating, weight gain, and fatigue. Why? Because they’re not addressing the most critical factor—hormonal imbalance.
The Foundation of Your Health: Hormones
The foundation of your health is rooted in your hormones. Your hormones dictate your body’s ability to gain or lose weight, build muscle, and even maintain energy levels throughout the day. Without addressing hormonal health, you’re essentially fighting an uphill battle, no matter how hard you work at your diet or fitness routine.
If you’re serious about your health and weight loss goals, addressing your hormonal health should be your first priority.
