Why Telehealth Has Changed Hormone Medicine
A decade ago, getting a testosterone evaluation or starting HRT typically involved a referral to an endocrinologist, a wait of several weeks for an appointment, an in-person visit, another wait for lab results, and then another in-person appointment to discuss findings. For most patients, this process took months — during which symptoms continued, quality of life deteriorated, and many gave up before receiving care.
Telehealth has fundamentally transformed this experience. Today, patients at Multigen Wellness can complete a comprehensive hormone consultation, order lab work through a conveniently located local lab, receive their results reviewed by a specialist-trained provider, and have treatment initiated — all within one to two weeks, entirely from home.
What Telehealth Hormone Therapy Actually Looks Like
The Multigen Wellness telehealth process is designed to be thorough, efficient, and genuinely personalized:
Step 1 — Schedule and intake: You schedule an initial consultation online and complete a detailed symptom assessment questionnaire. This gives your provider a comprehensive picture of your symptoms, health history, goals, and current medications before the consultation begins.
Step 2 — Lab order: A comprehensive hormone panel is ordered through a national lab partner (typically Quest Diagnostics or LabCorp) with a convenient location near you. Most labs have same-day or next-day availability and results return within 24–48 hours.
Step 3 — Consultation: Your telehealth appointment with a Multigen Wellness provider takes approximately 30–45 minutes via secure video or phone call. Your labs are reviewed, symptoms discussed in depth, and a personalized treatment plan presented. Questions are answered fully before any prescription is issued.
Step 4 — Prescription and delivery: Prescriptions are sent directly to a pharmacy of your choice — including mail-order options for medications like testosterone cypionate, semaglutide, or compounded hormone preparations. Many medications arrive at your door within days.
Step 5 — Ongoing monitoring: Follow-up labs are ordered at 4–8 weeks and quarterly thereafter. Protocol adjustments are made via telehealth without requiring travel.
Is Telehealth Hormone Therapy as Safe as In-Person Care?
For the vast majority of hormone therapy patients, telehealth provides equivalent safety and efficacy compared to in-person care. Lab monitoring — the cornerstone of hormone therapy safety — is fully maintained through local lab draws. The provider review is conducted by the same level of clinical expertise as in-person consultation. And patients who require physical examination for specific indications (such as pellet implantation) are referred to in-network providers for the procedural component.
What telehealth cannot do is perform a physical exam — which is why our intake process and symptom questionnaires are detailed, and why patients with symptoms suggesting pathology requiring examination (testicular abnormalities, pelvic pain, thyroid nodules) may be referred for supplementary in-person evaluation alongside their telehealth care.
States Served and Accessibility
Multigen Wellness currently serves patients via telehealth in Texas, Arizona, Michigan, New York, Utah, and Florida — with ongoing licensure expansion. Telehealth consultations are available Monday through Saturday, with early morning and evening appointments to accommodate working adults.
Most major insurance plans do not cover testosterone therapy or anti-aging hormone optimization, but our transparent pricing and HSA/FSA-eligible services make care accessible without insurance involvement. Costs are discussed clearly during consultation with no surprise billing.
