Testosterone Replacement Therapy in Houston: Telehealth TRT and HRT
MultiGen Wellness offers testosterone replacement therapy in Houston and women’s hormone therapy by telehealth. You meet a licensed provider by video, get blood drawn at a lab near you, and any prescription that fits your care goes to a pharmacy. This section covers the local details: how Texas regulates telemedicine, where Houston-area patients get labs, how a visit works and what it costs.
How Texas regulates telemedicine prescribing
Texas telemedicine law is in Texas Occupations Code chapter 111. A few parts matter most for hormone therapy:
- Who can treat you. Section 111.001 defines a telemedicine medical service as care from a physician who holds a Texas license, or from a health professional working under that physician’s delegation and supervision.
- Consent first. Section 111.002 says your informed consent must be obtained before telemedicine care begins.
- A real patient relationship. Under Section 111.005, a provider can establish a valid relationship through a live audio-video visit, or through store-and-forward technology that uses your relevant records, such as your history and lab results. The provider must give you guidance on follow-up care. If you consent and have a primary care physician, a report of the visit goes to that physician within 72 hours.
- Same standard as in-person care. Section 111.007 holds telemedicine to the same standard of care as an in-person visit.
The Texas Medical Board’s telemedicine rules now sit in 22 Texas Administrative Code chapter 175. Rule 175.1 says a physician may not provide telemedicine to patients in Texas without a full Texas medical license. The one exception is for physicians who already held an out-of-state telemedicine license as of September 1, 2022. Rule 175.3 says a valid prescription requires a physician-patient relationship and compliance with other applicable laws, including the Medical Practice Act and Health and Safety Code chapters 481 and 483. You can check any Texas physician’s license with the Texas Medical Board license lookup. It is fair to ask any telehealth practice how its provider is licensed to treat you in Texas.
Federal rules for testosterone by telemedicine
Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance, as the FDA label for testosterone cypionate on DailyMed states. Federal law generally requires an in-person medical evaluation before a controlled substance is prescribed by telemedicine. Temporary DEA and HHS rules set that requirement aside, under certain conditions, for audio-video telemedicine visits. The current extension runs through December 31, 2026 (Federal Register, 2025-24123). If those rules change, your provider will tell you whether anything about your care has to change.
Where Houston-area patients get labs drawn
Lab work comes before any treatment decision. Both large national lab networks list patient service centers across the metro. Your provider will tell you which lab your order goes to.
| Area | Our national lab partner | Another national lab |
|---|---|---|
| Houston | Houston locations | Houston locations |
| Katy | Katy locations | Katy locations |
| Pearland | Pearland locations | Pearland locations |
| Sugar Land | Sugar Land locations | Sugar Land locations |
| Humble | Humble locations | Humble locations |
Our national lab partner’s Texas directory also lists Cypress, Kingwood, Bellaire, Pasadena, Tomball, League City and The Woodlands. Hours, walk-ins and appointments vary by site, so check before you go.
Timing matters for men. The Endocrine Society guideline recommends testing total testosterone on a fasting, early-morning sample and confirming a low result with a second morning test. An early appointment makes that easier. For women, your provider decides which labs, if any, you need based on your symptoms and history.
Telehealth across greater Houston
For a telehealth visit, what matters is where you are when the visit happens. The same video care is available inside the Loop and across the suburbs. Several areas have their own pages: Katy, Pearland, Sugar Land, River Oaks, the Galleria, Memorial, the Heights and The Woodlands. Bellaire, West University Place, Spring, Cypress, Humble, Kingwood, Pasadena, Missouri City, Friendswood and League City are served the same way. For statewide details, see Texas hormone therapy. If you will be outside Texas at the time of a visit, tell your provider ahead of time.
TRT and HRT in brief
For men. Low testosterone can show up as low sex drive, fatigue, low mood or loss of muscle. Our guide to the signs of low testosterone explains what to watch for. Diagnosis needs both symptoms and repeat low lab results. Testosterone can suppress sperm production, and the Endocrine Society advises against starting it if you plan to have children soon, so tell your provider about your family plans. The label calls for periodic checks of blood pressure, hemoglobin and hematocrit while on treatment. Learn more about TRT online.
For women. Hormone therapy is the most effective treatment for hot flashes and night sweats, and it also treats other menopause symptoms. The 2022 hormone therapy position statement from The North American Menopause Society (now The Menopause Society) says the benefit-risk ratio is favorable for women under 60, or within 10 years of menopause onset, who have no contraindications. It is less favorable for women who start later. Read how online menopause treatment works, or learn more about HRT online.

- Get your labs drawn at a patient service center near you.
- Meet a licensed provider by video to review your symptoms, history and results.

How does testosterone replacement therapy in Houston work by telehealth?
Visits happen by video. Your blood is drawn at a local lab patient service center, and any prescription that fits your care is sent to a pharmacy.
Can testosterone be prescribed by telemedicine in Texas?
Texas law allows a valid patient relationship through a live audio-video visit. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance, and federal telemedicine flexibilities for controlled substances run through December 31, 2026. Whether testosterone is right for you is your provider’s decision.
Does my provider need a Texas license?
For physicians, yes. Texas Medical Board Rule 175.1 requires a full Texas medical license to provide telemedicine to patients in Texas, with a narrow exception for out-of-state telemedicine licenses held as of September 1, 2022.
Will my primary care doctor be told about my visit?
Only if you agree. When a relationship starts through telemedicine, Texas law requires the provider to send a report to your primary care physician within 72 hours if you consent and have one.
Why do men need early-morning lab draws?
Testosterone levels change during the day. The Endocrine Society recommends a fasting, early-morning test, repeated to confirm a low result.
Can women start HRT through telehealth?
Yes. A licensed provider reviews your symptoms and history by video and decides whether hormone therapy fits. Age and time since menopause affect the benefit-risk balance.
Does MultiGen take insurance or HSA cards?
No. MultiGen is self-pay. It does not bill insurance and does not take HSA or FSA cards directly.
