Hormone Replacement Therapy in The Woodlands, TX: How Telehealth Care Works

If you live in The Woodlands and want help with low testosterone or menopause symptoms, you can start care from home. MultiGen Wellness provides hormone care by telehealth: video visits with a licensed provider, blood work at a lab near you, and any prescription sent to a pharmacy. Most questions about hormone replacement therapy in The Woodlands come down to four things: the Texas rules, the labs, the treatment and the cost.

What Texas law requires for care by video

Texas sets its telemedicine rules in Texas Occupations Code Chapter 111 and in Texas Medical Board rules at 22 Texas Administrative Code Chapter 175. (The Board’s telemedicine rules used to sit in Chapter 174 and moved to Chapter 175 in January 2025.) In plain terms:

  • A real patient relationship can start online. Under Section 111.005, a valid practitioner-patient relationship can be formed by a live audio-video visit, or by store-and-forward review of your records, such as lab results and medical history, as long as the practitioner uses the clinical information the standard of care calls for.
  • Same standard as in-person care. Section 111.007 holds care given by telemedicine to the same standard of care as the same service given in person.
  • Follow-up and your own doctor. The practitioner must give you guidance on follow-up care. If you agree and you have a primary care physician, a record of the visit goes to that physician within 72 hours.
  • Texas license and valid prescriptions. Board rule 175.1 says a physician generally needs a full Texas license to treat patients located in Texas by telemedicine. Rule 175.3 says a valid prescription needs a physician-patient relationship and must follow other state law, including the Texas Controlled Substances Act (Health and Safety Code Chapter 481).

Federal rules matter too. Testosterone is a Schedule III controlled substance (DEA controlled substance list). The DEA and HHS extended the telemedicine flexibilities for prescribing controlled medicines without a prior in-person exam through December 31, 2026 (Federal Register). Prescriptions still have to meet DEA and state requirements.

Where to get lab work near The Woodlands

Blood work is the first step of hormone replacement therapy. The Woodlands, Spring, Conroe, Shenandoah and Tomball all have lab options close to home:

  • Our national lab partner lists patient service centers in The Woodlands on Pinecroft Drive and Six Pines Drive (The Woodlands locations), plus nearby sites on Medical Plaza Drive in Shenandoah (Shenandoah location), on Riverwood Court in Conroe (Conroe location) and on Medical Complex Drive in Tomball (Tomball location).
  • Another national lab lists patient service centers in Spring on East Mossy Oaks Road (Spring location) and in Conroe on Vision Park Boulevard and South Conroe Medical Drive (Conroe locations).

Hours vary, and not every site is open on Saturdays, so check the locator or book ahead. Testosterone tests are usually drawn in the early morning, as explained below.

Low T treatment for men

Low testosterone can show up as low energy, lower sex drive, low mood, trouble concentrating or loss of muscle. Our guide to the signs of low testosterone covers the common ones. Symptoms alone are not enough to diagnose it. The American Urological Association uses a total testosterone level below 300 ng/dL, measured on at least two separate early-morning tests, together with symptoms (AUA guideline). If testosterone therapy makes sense for you, your provider will talk through options, risks, fertility plans and the follow-up labs you will need. You can read more about TRT online.

HRT for women, and what “bioidentical” means

Perimenopause and menopause can bring hot flashes, night sweats, poor sleep, mood changes and vaginal dryness. The Menopause Society (formerly NAMS) says hormone therapy remains the most effective treatment for hot flashes and night sweats. It also says treatment should be individualized, because the risks depend on factors such as age, time since menopause, the type of hormone and how it is taken (2022 position statement). Learn how a visit works in our guide to online menopause treatment, or read about HRT online.

You may see “bioidentical” hormone therapy advertised. “Bioidentical” only describes structure: the hormone is chemically the same as one your body makes, such as estradiol or progesterone. It is not a safety rating. The FDA has already approved hormone products containing estrogen and progesterone, and those products have been reviewed for safety and effectiveness (National Academies). ACOG notes that FDA-approved menopause medicines use bioidentical hormones, synthetic hormones or both, and it recommends FDA-approved options over compounded ones (ACOG). Custom-mixed, compounded versions are a different category. The FDA states that compounded drugs are not FDA-approved and that it does not verify their safety, effectiveness or quality before they are marketed (FDA). Ask your provider which type you are being offered and why.

What the visit looks like

  1. Reach out. Call 1-800-259-0015 or send a message through our contact page.
  2. Get labs. Go to a nearby lab patient service center for your blood draw.
  3. Meet by video. A licensed provider reviews your symptoms, history and results with you.
  4. Start your plan. If treatment is right for you, your prescription is sent to a pharmacy.
  5. Follow up. Repeat labs and check-in visits keep your plan on track.

What it costs

Care is self-pay. It is $247 to start, which includes your first provider visit, and then $97 per visit. Medications are priced separately, and you can see current prices on our pharmacy page. MultiGen does not bill insurance and does not take HSA or FSA cards directly. For a broader look at pricing, see how much TRT costs.

Nearby communities

Telehealth means you can join a visit from anywhere in the area, including Spring, Shenandoah, Oak Ridge North, Magnolia, Tomball, Kingwood, Humble, Porter and Conroe. For statewide rules and options, see Texas hormone therapy.

Are the provider visits in person?

No. Provider visits happen by video from home, work or anywhere private. The only in-person step is your blood draw at a lab you choose.

Can a Texas telehealth provider prescribe testosterone without an in-person exam?

Texas allows a patient relationship to begin by live audio-video visit when the standard of care is met. Testosterone is a controlled substance, and the federal telemedicine flexibilities that allow prescribing without a prior in-person exam run through December 31, 2026. Your provider decides whether treatment is appropriate.

Which labs do I need before treatment?

Your provider orders the tests. For men this usually includes total testosterone measured on at least two early-morning draws. For women, the tests depend on your symptoms and health history.

Is bioidentical hormone therapy safer than other HRT?

Not by definition. “Bioidentical” describes the hormone’s structure, not its safety. FDA-approved products containing estrogen and progesterone are available, while compounded mixes are not FDA-approved. All hormone therapy has benefits and risks to review with your provider.

How much does hormone replacement therapy in The Woodlands cost with MultiGen?

Does MultiGen take insurance or HSA cards?

No. Care is self-pay. MultiGen does not bill insurance and does not accept HSA or FSA cards directly.

Will my primary care doctor be told?

If you consent and you have a primary care physician, Texas law requires the telemedicine practitioner to send that physician a record of the visit within 72 hours.
