What is KASPER, and will my TRT prescription show up in it?

Yes. KASPER tracks controlled substances dispensed in Kentucky, and testosterone is one of them. Prescribers and pharmacists use it to check controlled-substance history and prescribe safely. The program says it is not intended to interfere with appropriate patient care; a KASPER entry simply records that a controlled-substance prescription was filled.

I live outside Louisville and Lexington. Where do I get labs?

With our national lab partner’s draw sites only in those two cities, patients in Bowling Green, Owensboro, Paducah or eastern Kentucky should bring it up at the consult, and we will work out the draw with you. Men checking for low testosterone should aim for an early appointment: the Endocrine Society guideline calls for a fasting morning sample, with a second test to confirm a low result. Can I get my visit records or send them to my Kentucky doctor?

Yes. The KBML opinion says physicians who treat by telemedicine should make documentation of the visit easily available to the patient and, with your consent, to your other care providers. The board also expects records to be easy to transfer and expects physicians to share them with your primary care physician if you ask. How do I check a Kentucky telehealth provider’s license?

Before your first visit, ask for your provider’s name and license, then verify it with the state board. Physicians are listed on the KBML verification page above.
