What Utah Law Expects From Telehealth Providers

Utah’s telehealth standards are set in Utah Code 26B-4-704, which the Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL) enforces for licensed professionals. Key points:

  • Same standards as in person. Telehealth providers are held to the same standards of practice as traditional settings, and they must share their licensure and credentials with you when the relationship begins.
  • Diagnosis before a prescription. Before treating or prescribing, the provider must gather and document your relevant history and current symptoms, establish a diagnosis and check for contraindications. A diagnosis or prescription cannot rest solely on an online questionnaire, an email or a patient-generated medical history.
  • Follow-up and records. Your provider must be available for related follow-up care and make your medical records available to you.

Utah’s Controlled Substance Database, in place since 1995, collects Schedule II through V prescriptions, including those filled by in-state and out-of-state mail-order pharmacies. Testosterone is covered because federal law places it in Schedule III (DEA).

Labs. Our national lab partner’s Utah directory lists patient service centers in Draper, Layton, Murray and Price, and another national lab’s lists Salt Lake City, Provo, Ogden, St. George, Bountiful, Draper and Tooele. Our care team will confirm a draw site that accepts your lab order before you book.

Areas we serve in Utah: Spanish Fork, Provo, Orem.

Hormone Therapy Across Utah: A Regional Guide

Utah’s active, outdoor-oriented culture makes hormone optimization especially popular — and MultiGen Wellness serves the whole state online.

The Wasatch Front. Salt Lake City, Provo, Orem, Ogden, and our own roots in Spanish Fork form the state’s population core, where a young, fitness-minded community drives demand for TRT, peptides, and weight loss.

Northern Utah & Military Communities. Near Hill Air Force Base, veterans and service families are especially welcome, with no VA wait required.

St. George & Southern Utah. The fast-growing southwest corner and the outdoor-recreation communities gain access to specialty care without the long drive north.

Every Utah patient gets a free online consult, labs at a nearby lab, and treatment shipped to the door.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is hormone therapy available in Utah?

New-Patient Special: $247 enrollment — includes your first provider visit.

Yes. MultiGen Wellness treats patients across the entire state of Utah, including West Valley City, Provo, and Ogden, all through secure telehealth visits with a licensed provider.

Does insurance, HSA, or FSA cover treatment?

MultiGen Wellness is a self-pay practice. We do not bill insurance and do not accept HSA or FSA cards for services.

Do I need to visit an office in Salt Lake City?

No. Every visit is conducted by telehealth. The only in-person step is a routine lab draw at a national lab location near you in Utah — no office visit required.

How soon will I see results?

Many patients report improved energy, mood, and sleep within the first few weeks of treatment, with fuller results typically developing over 2–3 months as hormone levels stabilize.

Does living at high elevation in Utah affect my TRT labs?

It can be part of the picture. The American Urological Association guideline on testosterone deficiency lists living at high altitude, along with testosterone therapy itself, among causes of polycythemia, a high hematocrit (the share of your blood made up of red blood cells). It recommends checking hemoglobin and hematocrit before starting testosterone. If you live in or spend a lot of time in Utah’s mountain towns, tell your provider so your blood counts can be read in context. Our guide to TRT blood work explains what is usually checked.

What if something urgent comes up between visits?

For a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Beyond follow-up care, Utah law requires your telehealth provider to be familiar with medical resources near you, including emergency resources, so they can refer you locally when it is medically indicated. For questions that are not emergencies, call 1-800-259-0015 to reach our team.

Will my family doctor get a copy of my records?

If you have a designated health care provider, Utah law requires your telemedicine provider to ask whether you want a record or report sent and to collect that doctor’s contact information. Unless you say no, the record goes to your doctor within two weeks of the visit, to the extent HIPAA allows. Many people find it helpful for their primary care doctor to see their hormone labs, but you can tell us if you would rather it not be sent.

What should a Utah telehealth provider tell me about their license?

Their licensure and credentials, shared when your care relationship begins. Utah also bars a provider whose license is not active and in good standing from offering telehealth services at all. You can confirm any license yourself in DOPL’s Licensee Lookup, which lets you search by name and profession or by license number.

Is menopause hormone therapy only for hot flashes?

No. The 2022 position statement of The North American Menopause Society (now The Menopause Society) calls hormone therapy the most effective treatment for hot flashes and night sweats and for the genitourinary syndrome of menopause, and notes that it has been shown to prevent bone loss and fracture. Risks vary with the type, dose, route and timing of treatment, so plans should be individualized. Compare perimenopause and menopause symptoms.
